Winefest is not nearly as big or important as Onion Fest, but it's still a force to be reckoned with. Wine stands abound, live music (a Simon and Garfunkel tribute band, if you'd believe that) is everywhere and it's a weekend-o-fun. Fiona enjoyed her "kids' wine" (grape juice) and even got her picture taken for the local newspaper (once I get it scanned, it'll be on here, no worries).
We had friends in town from Dresden and enjoyed WineFest with them, and they pointed out that not only was it Goethe's 265th birthday (we knew that) but that this was the 20th annual wine fest. Which means that the first one took place just before the Berlin Wall fell. Coincidence?
What else has been going on in Weimar, besides all the fests and birthday celebrations? Not much. School (busy, exciting, and insane as always) and plans for September (Berlin, inlaws visiting, and Nurmberg and the Playmobil Play Park).
