February is so short

I cannot believe it's already Friday the 13th. Where has the time gone? Well, dear readers... here is where.

Russ's new job: Herr Direktor, all is happy and well, but so very busy- child pulled a large log onto her foot nearly breaking it, alerted to new playground dangers, staffing and plans for next year, secretary possibly relocating to Italy, prospective parents, board meetings, computer woes.

My not-so-new job: poetry cafe, one student in and out in three weeks, demanding a report card for the full term on his way out, planning the big overnight field trip for May, computer woes. (All woes are school-related, nothing here, our two Macs are happy as can be, living virus-, worm- and Trojan-free ).

Fiona's adventures: more time playing with little Fiona (all going well there, two dates now, a third to follow after our upcoming vacation), sending Valentines at kindergarten, loving kindergarten, still friends with the Biting Baby ("Mummy, he doesn't eat me anymore.")

Vacation plans: heading off to Paris tomorrow (Euro Disney here we come!) and meeting family, then after our fill of Mickey, Minnie, and Die Princessen, to Centreparks outside of Amsterdam (cool concept for cold climates- how's that for alliteration- huge indoor water park resort, trying to make you feel like you're outside in Cancun. I think). Update to follow.

Considering a new apartment: not committed yet, but likely that we'll be here another school year (Herr Direktor must whip the playground into shape! The state of it! There's a giant drop off place where children were PLAYING, friends, PLAYING on the edge of this concrete cliff where they could have fallen to their deaths 13 feet down onto old Communist cellar concrete, metal shards, and all sorts of nightmarish dangers, and it's hidden away behind the school, I'm not sure how those kids found it. But anyway Russ is now alerted to the situation and it's been roped off, and he's had a walk round the school to check out other potential dangers. So rest assured that the children will not fall off the concrete cliff, but still, great work to be done in the areas of safety in my opinion). So we're considering another flat- fewer stairs, proper kitchen, vertical walls (we currently live in the attic and the sloped ceilings are driving Russ to drink). But flat-looking takes time and if you're paying attention, we've not got much of it! Update on the flat to follow.

So that's it, dear readers, that brings us now to the fact that by the time we return from the vacation it'll be nearly March. MARCH! February is short, but this is madness.

Keep safe on playgrounds, please, I've seen too many dangers this week to rest easy.

Playground safety is why I'm so enjoying all my indoor recess- my kids have settled in to a good clip where they love playing hockey with empty water bottles and caps.

We have those crazy indoor water parks here in New England now too, I've been wanting to check them out because you know of my love for the waterpark
